The Election Commission of India has reported widespread adoption of the non-editable digital e-EPIC system. The PDF document features a secure QR code containing verifiable demographic details and photograph of the registered voter.
Why e-EPIC Matters: 1. **Zero Waiting Time:** Electors whose mobile numbers are linked in Form 6 or Form 8 can download their digital card instantly without waiting for postal delivery. 2. **Equal Validity:** Polling officers are mandated to accept e-EPIC on smartphone screens or paper printouts alongside physical cards. 3. **Security:** The embedded cryptographic signature prevents forgery and counterfeit duplication.
Citizens who need to link their mobile numbers can submit Form 8 online via NVSP.
